Among the priorities of the General Directorate for Environmental Quality (DGCA) are the integration of the Environment into the rest of its policies and the encouragement of sustainable development. In particular, it has responsibility for waste management, raising public awareness and fostering the collaboration of the general public with regard to the environment, the planning and management of water treatment, inspection and control of compliance with regulations with regard to industrial activities, environmental impact and air pollution. It is also responsible for the management and control of environmental control systems and the promotion of clean technologies.
